8 Ball (Eight-Ball) is a 2 player or 2 team game played with 15 object balls. One player or team must pocket the solid color balls (number 1 through 7) and the other player or team must pocket the striped balls (9 through 15) The first to pocket all the balls of their group first and finish by legally pocketing the 8-ball wins the game!
9 Ball (Nine-Ball) is played with nine object balls numbered 1 through 9. For each shot, the first ball the cue ball contacts must be the lowest numbered ball on the table. A match ends when one of the players has won the required number of games.
Straight pool, 14.1 Continuous or 14.1 is a nomination or called-pocket game. In straight pool, the player may attempt to pocket any ball on the table. The object is to reach an predetermined number of points agreed upon before the game. The player gets 1 point for each ball pocketed if no foul is made. The player must indicate the intended object ball and pocket on each shot. How the ball reaches the pocket is irrelevant, as long as the called ball enters the called pocket.
Cut-throat is a good social game. It is a perfect game for 3 or 5 players or teams. The balls are grouped by numbers 1through 5, 6 through 10 and 11 through 15 and the players decide which one has which group. The object of the game is pocket your opponents' balls before the opponents pocket your group of balls.
